However, as he is sucked into this world, many questions arise as to what exactly is this game and who is truly controlling it.I could not put this book down! It reminded me somewhat of books such as Divergent and The Hunger Games in its incorporation of themes such as self-concept and morality in an alternate world. Personally, I don't have any interest in video games so this book felt a little bit longer than necessary for me, but I think many students would enjoy it.

Though the events in this book are fictional and extreme, I think there is an important message about the potential dangers of escapism through video games, as an alternative world can be much more appealing than reality for many young people. more in which a person (particularly young people) can become addicted to a computer or video game. As Nick becomes increasingly more immersed in the game his sense of reality and the virtual become muddled and things spin out of control.Told in the first person, this book allows readers to witness first-hand the ways. In order to advance in the game Nick must carry out tasks in real life, many of which have dangerous consequences. However, his world is turned upside down when he is introduced to a computer game called Erebos, which requires participants to follow a strict code of secrecy and rules. The protagonist, high school student Nick Dunnmore, strives to earn good grades, plays on the school basketball team, and is working towards an ultimate goal of one day attending medical school.
