Furthermore there is a bias in publishing (or has been) that prioritizes men’s writing. Nevertheless, the section of classic travel writing will always be dominated by men as they had an easier time of traveling alone, and by that I meant that basically they could (as opposed to women), as the patriarchy skews the view on women as independent agents with rights to their own bodies and women of yore could not expect to be safe alone on the roads.

I did note, and lament that, it was the case and I am looking for other voices. When I wrote my list of seven suggestions for travel writing it was heavy on the white men, often of a British stock.
